‘Knowledge is Power’
Furniture Design Studio, Fall 2012
For a full semester, students were trained to hand cut dovetails as well as how to operate the machinery in the wood shop at the University of Miami School of Architecture. Students were then required to use their creativity alongside their new woodworking skills in order to design a piece of furniture that would positively aid to their daily life. As an architecture student, I felt that I would benefit from a storage unit to house my everyday supplies. The supply chest consists of a cork board to pin up work, a shelf large enough for 11″x17″ sheets of paper, a removable drawer for drafting tools, an inset for the draw that holds up drafting ink & lead holders as well as ample space for whatever books are being used for current projects.
